We came up with this stupidly simple business because it was something
we needed.
We ran of chain of dog training companies, of all things, and found that one of the best ways we got traffic to our website, new customers, and people coming ready to work with us was by taking care of our GMB, which later turned into a GBP.
As we continued growing and adding new locations of our company we looked for help in managing these map locations.
And we found two things:
Either crazy expensive management services.
No kidding, we once paid $THOUSANDS to a guy to manage our online locations and he only screwed them up further.
Overseas contractors that had no idea how business operates in the United States.
You can find these folks, too, on Fiverr or Upwork. Most of them are offering map citations and other absolutely useless services. Now, they’re cheap. Don’t get me wrong.
But they didn’t understand how business is done in the United States and a lot of the techniques they were using to ‘boost’ rankings were either unnecessary or even downright violations of Google’s terms that will get your listings in big trouble.
So…
We just did it ourselves.
We managed our own locations and learned that doing a few things and doing them well was the ticket to standing out versus all of our other competitors.
We got so good at it that we broke off and this became a business all by itself.
